Remembering Pankaj Udhas: Tribute to the Legendary Ghazal Maestro

On Monday, renowned playback and ghazal singer Pankaj Udhas passed away. He was seventy-two. Many others honoured the singer on social media.
At the age of 72, well-known playback and ghazal vocalist Pankaj Udhas passed away. After a protracted illness, he passed away at the Breach Candy hospital at around 11 am. Following the announcement, a number of well-known people and celebrities paid tribute to the artist and sent their sympathies to his family on social media.

Through his X account, PM Narendra Modi expressed his condolences. “We mourn the loss of Pankaj Udhas Ji,” he wrote. “His Ghazals spoke directly to the soul and his singing conveyed a range of emotions.” His melodies lasted over centuries, making him a shining example of Indian music. I remember all the many things I’ve done with him throughout the years. There will always be a gap in the music industry after his departure. My sympathies to his family and supporters. Om Shanti.

Singer Sonu Nigam, meanwhile, used his Instagram account to express his sadness over the singer’s passing. With the remark, “One of the most important parts of my childhood, is lost today,” he posted a photo of Pankaj. I love you, Shri Pankaj Udhas ji, and I always will.
